On Site SEO is Keywords First
Where are you now? You are in the situation that you already have your content ready to be published on your website. You made your content based on keywords you discovered using a keyword planner.
Keywords are bringing organic traffic! You need to be sure to write content that users are looking for. How? Write for Google users, for your potential visitors, and for your audience. Every blogger would like to write about what they like: it’s not the best idea! Writing on what your audience and Google like: that’s the coolest idea!
Several tools are giving statistics on what users are searching for: that’s it! Take advantage of those statistics and upload keywords to use on your SEO strategy. We are going to talk more about it in one of the next chapters.
SEO Title and Meta Description: Are They Both a Ranking Factor?
What do you have to do first? Think about an SEO title up to 60 characters and a meta description up to 158 characters before posting your article/page. Google and your potential visitors won’t know what your article/content is about without those on site SEO optimizations! An important tip? The SEO title is a ranking factor: include your content main keyword in it.
What is a meta description? It’s a description of your content that appears under your link on Google Search results (SERP): it should be from 120 to 158 characters.
The meta description is not a Google ranking factor, it’s increasing the CTR though: numbers of click compared to how many people see your link on Google Search result! Create a catchy Call To Action (CTA) in the meta description to bring users to click and land on your website.
Make sure to use your focus keyword in the meta description, not only in the SEO title. Users are going to see the “gold” keyword in the article/page meta description: it’s the post they were are looking for, they will click to read it! For example, your business is related to food recipes, your focus keyword is “white bread”, you can have the following meta description:
“Starving for some white bread? Improve your stunning taste, making the best bakery products with our unveiled recipes!”
The main idea is to have a description that is comprised of 3 elements:
- Main keyword (white bread)
- CTA (Improve)
- Catchy (unveiled)
You are making a clear message that will make users understood what your article is about. That’s what every user wants and this is what you want: a better CTR. Optimizing all your meta description implementing this concept, you will have more clicks. What will be the result? More traffic on your website without using any paid adverts.
Don’t Forget The H1 Title
Every page of your website needs to have a title, using an H1 heading. Don’t confuse it with the SEO title, that can be different from the H1 title! That’s useful for your visitor to understand the main content of your webpage, only, when they land on your site. Be sure to use only one H1 title per page and also to use your focus keyword in your title.
Using multiple H1 is against the best SEO practices. It will penalize your ranking on Google. “Two H1 titles? What’s the content of the post?” Google will think that.
It’s the opposite concept for the H2 sub-heading: you can use multiple H2 tags inside your content. They are the titles of your paragraphs! More H2 you use and more your content structure will be optimized: Google would appreciate it and also user experience will be great!
Density Keywords in Your Article
It’s really important to use keywords in your content, at least 2/3 times per keyword on your page, even if there is no specific number for that. Mention the main keyword in the first paragraph of your content and in the first 100 words at least one time.
Using several times the same keyword into a post/article would be an old SEO strategy. Stuffing keywords was a black-hat SEO strategy! After the release of Penguin, the Google algorithm, has not been successful anymore.
Who used that strategy had stunning visibility before the Google update. It was a trick, that Google stopped soon! After the release of the new algorithm that strategy brought a drop in every company trend. It happens every time that Google makes some changes.
Make your content natural, don’t forget it: you are talking to humans. Use keywords without stuffing strategy!
Keywords Stuffing: Is It Working?
Don’t make a common mistake: when you are about to post your content, you realize that you did not include your main keyword enough. What are you going to do?
Adding your keywords randomly is not one of the best SEO practices, it’s the opposite though. Just fix your content using a natural way, making sentences that make sense for the keywords you are using.
Google wants the best experience for users, don’t forget it. Fixing content after you write it, it’s a good SEO strategy: make your article, check keywords, internal linking finding out what is seo url, H1, H2, SEO title, meta description. You are making the best SEO strategy!
Latent Semantic Indexing Keywords
Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) means long-tail keywords. and with LSI keywords Moz, one of the SEO tools available online, you can find out some ideas for topics with a good search volume. What is LSI? Those are keywords that bring high traffic and have low competition! You are going to boost the organic traffic on your website using LSI keywords strategy in your marketing plan.
I suggest #Ubersuggest, the best tool in my opinion to hit keywords: it's a keyword planner that pulls data from Google, the most used search engine today! Who is going to provide the best statistic on it? Only Google source! Share on XMoz, as we said, is a great tool to search for keywords. It has been acquired by Google the last April 2019 2nd. Its keywords planner can suggest new opportunities and synonymous, based on your business and topics. You will have an amazing tool to analyze the SERPs and challenge your competitors. Why do they have a better position than you on Google? Tools like Moz, Ahrefs, SEMrush they find out for you.
Duplicate Content Can Penalize Your Ranking
Regarding on-site optimization, when you manage a blog, your audience can reach the same article through categories, tags, homepage. What do you need to know about it? Don’t forget to index categories on Google, not tags though: you can set it using the robot.txt file. That would be part of your technical SEO plan.
Google identifies your content as duplicated if you copy and paste it from another website. Did you know it? Optimize your content, making it fresh and original, something that nobody can find somewhere else: your content is unique and only on your website.
It can be also internal duplicate content. A piece of content that you copy and past in several pages of your website, either the same post/page that is reachable in different parts of your website. Avoid also duplicate content among your own pages! How? Set a canonical link: using this feature, available on WordPress, including the element rel=canonical, you are telling Google what your main blog post URL is.
Don’t copy and paste content from other web pages! Don’t mention the same things in your article several times! Those 2 strategies are not going to be useful for your audience, not only for Google. Try to be original and unique when you create content for your audience. The idea is to have a stunning content: you are going viral, getting several shares on social media.
Following a Human Marketing Concept
Why do we need SEO implementing our marketing strategy? Because SEO is part of marketing and you cannot think about a marketing plan without spending at least one hour a day optimizing your SEO strategy. SEO is giving visibility, is bringing organic traffic to your website, is bringing leads without spending money from your budget. Of course, we should consider also the off site SEO part, comprised of backlinks, including some investment.
Finding backlinks will be important to give your domain authority online. Having links that point to your website coming from external sources is a sign of popularity and reliability! That’s part of a link building strategy that can bring not only more visitors and leads to your website, but also a branding strategy implementation.
You have 3 ideological streets to take: Google, marketing, a match between Google and marketing! Google algorithm is telling us the best practices to follow to have more traffic, setting the elements of our websites properly and pushing us to keep ourselves informed about any update. Marketing is telling us to respect consumer needs, creating a product that can fix behavior issues, having some emotional online content useful for your potential clients and nice to read.
Did You Find Your On SEO Strategy?
Find a way where you can include every concept, without forgetting that you have to consider your clients’ need first, as Google does for its “clients”. Using this strategy, you will create the best content for your visitors and for Google.
Every marketer should follow a marketing concept, coming from users’ behavior, and also a Google concept, coming from Google algorithm, to reach and create an audience. Are we able to mix those? Google’s aim is to make the best experience for his audience, creating the best match for every query, your aim should be to provide the best service for your clients. Be sure to provide the best content for users that are searching for the topic you are talking about.
You need to love what you are doing: it will be the right match between the Google algorithm and your marketing plan!
On site SEO is just a small part of a big world. Every strategy should be implemented with other marketing strategies. For example, the performance of your website (in terms of load time) is a Google ranking factor. This kind of optimization is part of an on site technical SEO!
Nobody wants slow websites, mostly on mobile. A slow website means 3 things: high bounce rate, terrible user experience, worse ranking!
